In short. The directory combines official open data and community-mapped data. We reword and organise it, but we do not inspect every campground, so use it to shortlist and then confirm with the operator.
Where the listings come from
- Quebec (838 listings). Adapted from the Ministère du Tourisme du Québec’s Campings dataset (SIT Québec), published under CC BY 4.0. We changed names, wording and grouping.
- Rest of Canada (1827 listings). Adapted from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). We kept named campgrounds that show RV evidence or have contact details, merged near-duplicates and dropped signs, single sites and backcountry points.
- National parks (57 listings). Campsite counts and coordinates from the Government of Canada’s Parks Canada Accommodation open dataset.
- Everything else. A small number of listings were added by hand from operators’ own websites.
What the data cannot tell you
- We have not verified individual campgrounds by phone or visit. Quebec listings are the ministry’s published data (kept only where a phone or website is given), with season dates labelled as 2026 dates. Other provinces rely on community-mapped data and operator websites.
- Hookups and season dates are a snapshot and change from year to year.
- Places marked RV access not confirmed may not take RVs at all.
- We do not list site length, pull-through sites, rates or pet rules, because the sources do not carry them reliably.
- Town names for community-mapped listings are worked out from coordinates and are approximate.
Licences
The credit lines on campground pages are licence requirements. The campground records derived from OpenStreetMap remain available under the Open Database Licence; if you want an extract, contact us.
Fix or add a campground
