Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated September 2026. Next review March 2027.

In short. We collect only what you send us through our forms, plus basic technical data that any website host records. We do not sell your information, and this site does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.

This policy explains what RV Camping Canada ("we", "us") collects on rvcampingcanada.ca, why, and what choices you have. We aim to follow Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

Information you send us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, the topic, your message, and optionally the page you are writing about.
  • Newsletter signup: your email address, the time you confirmed, and the page you signed up from.

Technical data

Like most websites, our hosting provider may record technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time. This is used to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

  • To reply to your message, and to review a trip, guide or campground suggestion or correction you send us
  • To send you the border checklists and new-guide emails if you signed up and confirmed
  • To understand how the site is used, and to fix errors and keep it secure

We do not sell your personal information.

How form submissions are handled

Contact form: sent by email to our inbox at info@rvcampingcanada.ca.

Newsletter: we use double opt-in. When you sign up, we store your email address as pending and email you a confirmation link. You are subscribed only after you press the confirm button. We then store your address, when you confirmed, and the page you signed up from, in a private file on our server. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can also reply with the word "unsubscribe". If you unsubscribe, we keep your address on a suppression list, with no other details, so we do not email you again. You can ask us to delete it entirely at any time. If we later move the list to an email service provider, we will update this page.

Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies

We use Google Analytics to measure how people use the site, for example which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and roughly where they are and what device they use. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to do this, and Google processes the data on our behalf. We use the results to see which pages are useful and to improve the site. Google explains its own handling of this data in its privacy policy.

You can opt out by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings, or by installing Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Our site works the same either way.

Apart from analytics, this site does not set cookies of its own. If we add other tools, we will update this page.

Trip planner. When you add a trip to your plan, we save your shortlist in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is not sent to us, and you can clear it with the "Clear plan" button or by clearing your browser data.

Third-party services and links

  • Analytics. Google Analytics collects usage data as described above.
  • Site search. Our search page may use Google Programmable Search Engine. If it does, Google may set cookies and show ads in the results, under its own policies.
  • Fonts. Fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page does not send your details to a font provider.
  • Hosting and email. Our hosting and email providers process data on our behalf. They may store it in Canada or in other countries.
  • Outbound links. Links to other sites take you to services with their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for them.

Directory listings

Businesses listed in the directory are shown with the details the business provided, such as name, city, province, website, phone number, and description. To change or remove a listing, email us.

How long we keep information

We keep messages and listing requests for as long as we need them to respond, to run a listing, or to meet legal requirements. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, after which only the suppression entry remains. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Your choices

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to withdraw your consent to how we use it. Email info@rvcampingcanada.ca and we will respond. If you have a concern we cannot resolve, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This site is written for adults planning travel. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
