    Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to RV in Canada?

For most of the country, summer, from about late June to early September, when roads, campgrounds, and services are all open. Shoulder seasons are quieter and cheaper, but some campgrounds and attractions close.

How far ahead should I book campgrounds?

For popular national and provincial parks in July and August, book as soon as reservations open, which can be months ahead. Each system sets its own booking window, so check early.

How far should I drive each day?

A common rule of thumb is to plan shorter days than you would in a car, especially in the mountains, and to leave time to set up camp in daylight.

Do I need a pass for national parks?

Yes. National parks require a Parks Canada pass, and that is separate from campground fees.
