In short. Alberta fishing runs from Rocky Mountain trout rivers and lakes to walleye, pike and perch lakes on the plains and in the north. We map it by fishing area and show the RV campgrounds near each one.
Rules change. Seasons, closures and limits change often and can change mid-season. We link to the official pages rather than repeat them, so check them before every trip.
Licences and rules
- Fresh water: fishing is managed by the Province of Alberta. Read the Alberta Guide to Sportfishing Regulations and see My Wild Alberta: fishing licences and fees for licences and fees.
- Closures and advisories: waterbodies can be closed or have special rules, so check My Wild Alberta: fishing regulations before you go.
- Moving boats and gear: clean, drain and dry boats and gear between waters to stop invasive species.
